How to Access Jellyfin & Jellyseerr

Access to the media server is now handled using Tailscale device sharing. This means you sign into Tailscale using your own account, and accept the shared device I send you. Once you accept it, you can connect to Jellyfin just like you’re on my home network.

Already connected?

If Tailscale is installed and shows Connected on this device, you can open the apps directly:

Jellyfin — watch TV & films
URL: http://100.82.43.5:8096
Jellyseerr — request new shows/films
URL: http://100.82.43.5:5055

Step 1 – Ask me for a device share link

  1. Send me your email address.
  2. I will share the Jellyfin server with you through Tailscale.
  3. You will receive an email from Tailscale with a button saying “Accept shared device”.
  4. Click it and follow the instructions.

This does not add you to my tailnet. You keep your own account — it just lets you securely reach my server.

Step 2 – Install & sign in to Tailscale

  1. Install the Tailscale app on your device:

    Android – Get Tailscale

    For older FireSticks you will need to download this specific version of Tailscale

    Open Downloader app, and type https://sudodev.uk/ts.apk

  2. Open Tailscale and choose Sign in.
  3. Sign in using the same email address that received the “shared device” invite.
  4. Make sure Tailscale shows Connected.

Tailscale must be connected whenever you want to watch Jellyfin.

Step 3 – Connect the Jellyfin app

This is for the Jellyfin app.

  1. Open the Jellyfin app.
  2. If an old server appears, remove it.
  3. Select Add server.
  4. Enter the server address:
    100.82.43.5
  5. Save and connect.
  6. Log in with your Jellyfin username & password.

Step 4 – Using Jellyseerr

Jellyseerr is the page where you request new shows or films.

  1. Make sure Tailscale is connected.
  2. Open your web browser.
  3. Go to:
    http://100.82.43.5:5055
  4. Sign in with your Jellyseerr username.
